A flavor-first hot sauce - where flavor wins the heat race
Too many hot sauces chase extreme heat, with fiery names and skull-covered labels that intimidate more than invite — and often forget flavour altogether. We do things differently. Our sauces start with bold, unexpected flavour pairings, then add just enough chili to enhance, not overpower. From Blueberry & Earl Grey to Pineapple & Coffee and Pink Grapefruit & Hibiscus, we make flavour exciting, not scary.
Where it began...
The spark came one Christmas, when our fathers Moses cooked up a batch of hot sauce for his family and Matiss designed the first labels. The bottles looked good, the sauce tasted even better — and it was too good to keep to ourselves. That was the start of MOMO MOMO.
But the truth is, we’ve been building towards this for years. Moses, originally from Iceland, spent most of his adult life as a cocktail bartender — mastering the art of flavour pairing and balance. Matiss, from Latvia, came from the world of festivals, nightclubs, and cultural projects, with a love for building strong concepts and brands. We met in 2017, working together in a Copenhagen club, and have been best friends ever since.
How it's going...
From that kitchen experiment, MOMO MOMO has grown into a small-batch hot sauce company with its own kitchen in Amager, Copenhagen. We’ve popped up at markets, festivals, and parties; collaborated with chefs, bartenders, and artists; and today our sauces are stocked in shops and restaurants all over the city.
With design in mind
And because hot sauce should look as good as it tastes, we also put serious thought into design. Too many bottles scream flames, skulls, and pain — which might excite chili-heads but put everyone else off. Denmark isn’t a spice-heavy culture, so we wanted a design that feels inviting, playful, and premium without being pretentious. That’s why we teamed up with artists Ash Pederick and Max Morris Doherty to create bottles that capture who we are: fun, rock’n’roll, but serious about quality.
Our mission: to become Denmark’s hot sauce —approachable, bold, and always delicious.
So grab a bottle, try it on something unexpected, and join us on this flavour adventure.
